The ELEMENTAL Hub is led by the University of Kent in partnership with the Universities of Durham, East Anglia, Manchester, Surrey, York, Natural History Museum, University College London and the Quadram Institute, Norwich.
It is one of six UKRI Mission Hubs and 22 Mission Awards announced in February 2024, funded for five years. These mission hubs and awards projects will play a key role in achieving the goals of government’s national vision for engineering biology that was announced in December 2023.
